Ranch Activities -
A real experience with real people.

Calving and lambing. Springtime in the Rockies brings the perfect combination of nature and nurture. During calving and lambing you can make a difference, watch expecting mothers, read the weather, and lend a hand. Something vital fills each and every day.

Cattle Drives. Live the old west experience! It is traditional for ranch families to get together during brandings or roundups or cattle drives and they welcome you to join them. You will enjoy the camaraderie and appreciate the skill involved in the roping and wrangling.

Rodeo. There is nothing like real rodeo action in a small town setting and we’d like to share the fun with you. Calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, and bronc and bull riding. Eight seconds does not sound like much until you imagine 8 seconds strapped to a 2000 pound bull with an attitude! Watch these athletes test their skill most weekends in the summer.

Four wheeling. Early mornings in the summer are the best times to hop on the ATV (4-wheeler) and join in on the century-old tradition of irrigation as you explore with the ditch riders. Water is the life blood of the farm and ranch.

Fly Fishing. Montana has long been considered a World Class Fly Fishing Destination. Many of our ranches offer prime trout fishing--everything from secluded streams and creeks to the magnificent Yellowstone River. We specialize in unguided fishing opportunities.

Weddings, Reunions, Retreats.

Planning for a romantic wedding in a rural setting? Choose a historic working ranch and let us be your host. Ranches are available for wedding parties, receptions, reunions or corporate meetings from mid-May to mid-September.

Cultural Heritage

In addition to agriculture and ranching, outstanding fly fishing, and the legacy of Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, you will find that our ranches are located in an area rich in cultural resources--the arts, western history, Native American history, and prehistoric fossils.

The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail commemorates one of our nation’s grandest journeys of exploration. It is an epic that captures the imagination as much today as it did 200 years ago. Today thanks to generations of agricultural stewardship, these historic landscapes look largely the same. We invite you to see the places where the expedition camped, hunted and explored.

Cowboy Poetry & Old Time Music. We celebrate our roots and heritage with music. Bring your own musical instrument or just come to listen and join in the fun.

Native American Highlights. Ask about the dates for pow wows which are an important contemporary spiritual celebration of the American Indian.

Nature Discovery

Hiking, Mountain Biking & Birding. Nature discovery hikes are down-to-earth activities for those who want to get away and enjoy peace and quiet, a soaring eagle, the songs of the coyote, a deer bounding across the path, and horses grazing in the pasture. Bring your camera and we will make sure you are at the right place at the right time for memorable photography.

Excursions. Nearby you’ll find places to visit with things to do that take from a couple of hours to a full day. Consider the ranch your home base as you explore:
